Glavas fled to Bosnia just before the Zagreb County Court sentenced him to 10 years in prison for war crimes in the eastern Croatian city of Osijek in early 1990s. Later the Croatian Supreme Court upheld the verdict and reduced the prison term to eight years.
Earlier this summer, the State Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina received, via the Bosnian Justice Ministry, a request from the Croatian Justice Ministry for the enforcement of Glavas's final prison sentence.
The request was sent in accordance a Croatian-Bosnian agreement on the enforcement of prison sentences.
The prison sentence can be upheld or reduced under the agreement.
Presenting the request at today's hearing, prosecutor Jadranka Lokmic-Misiraca told the Bosnian Supreme Court's panel of judges that that there was not any reason not to accept the ruling and see to it that the eight-year-long sentence be enforced in Bosnia.
Lawyer Nikica Grzic said that his client Glavas was willing to serve his term in Bosnia. He, however, demanded the reduction of the prison term.
The chairman of tha panel of judges, Saban Maksumic, said that the ruling in this case would be passed as soon as possible.
The verdict must be made within 15 days, according to the Bosnian rules regulating this matter.
