ZAGREB, June 16 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said on Saturday he did not believe that he had been the target of wiretapping by Slovene intelligence agency Sova.

He was commenting on allegations in Slovenia's Dnevnik daily of today to the effect that in 2004 Sova had tapped a number of phone conversations between him and his Slovene counterpart Janez Jansa, the then Slovene opposition leader.

Sanader told a news conference that he assumed, although he could not claim so, that if the conversations had indeed been tapped, the target was Jansa and all those who were communicating with him.

Sanader said he did not wish to accuse anybody, but that he doubted the opposite was the case, namely that he had been the target and that Jansa accidentally dropped into the net.

However, he said he expected the former Slovene government and premier, Anton Rop, to state their position on the matter.
