The trial court ruling for Nada Kaleba, sentencing her to nine years in prison, was changed and she is to serve 11 years. Ivan Atanasijevic's 20-year term was reduced to 15 years.
On 12 March 2009, the Belgrade Special Tribunal for War Crimes sentenced 13 former members of the Serb Territorial Defence and paramilitary units to prison terms ranging from five to 20 years, while acquitting five.
Apart from Atanasijevic, former Territorial Defence commander Miroljub Vujovic, his deputy Stanko Vujanovic and members Predrag Milojevic, Djordje Sosic, Miroslav Djankovic and Sasa Radak were given the maximum 20-year prison sentence for the mistreatment and killing of POWs at the Grabovo pit near Ovcara.
Their verdicts were upheld by the appellate court.
In the night between November 20 and 21, 1991, Serb units killed more than 200 Croats at Ovcara, after they occupied the eastern Croatian town of Vukovar.
