ZAGREB, May 31 (Hina) - Minister of the Sea, Transport, Tourism
and Development Bozidar Kalmeta said on Thursday he believed he enjoyed Prime
Minister Ivo Sanader's confidence despite the fact that his chauffer was
suspected of involvement in extortion and setting up road-building deals. He was answering questions from the press and said he absolutely
supported the investigation of his driver Danijel Miocic. "If someone is
guilty, he will go to prison, but I can't be held accountable if my chauffer is
in prison."
Asked if it was possible that racketeers contracted road-building
deals, Kalmeta said this was nonsense and that bids were transparent, but added
he had launched an internal control of the construction of a road in Cetingrad
municipality.
He also dismissed the accusations to this effect level today by Ivica
Pancic of the Social Democratic Party.
