Because of its geographic position, Slovenia is obliged to cooperate with neighbouring countries, notably with Croatia with which Slovenia must share its experience, Huebner told the Slovene News Agency STA. Cross-border cooperation is very important for Slovenia and even more for Croatia, Huebner said.
She expressed conviction that Slovenia should assist Croatia in the policy of investing in that sectors that are most important for development so as to accelerate preparations for EU membership.
Huebner, Polish member of the European Commission, in Brussels on Wednesday held talks with Slovene Minister for Local Self-Government Units and Regional Policy Ivana Zagar about Slovenia's activities in regional policy in the first half of 2008, when Slovenia is expected to take over the chair of the EU Presidency.
