BUDVA, May 29 (Hina) - New names in the ICTY indictment will not affect the state of affairs in Croatia or the trial of Croatian generals in The Hague, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said on Budva on Tuesday, asked to comment on the new names of Croatia citizens in the ICTY indictment.

"It's not that the indictment is being expanded, these are the names of the people who were involved with the accused in one way or another, Mesic said, adding that this did not mean that the indictment is being expanded in The Hague or that these cases would be referred to the Croatian judiciary.

The public announcement of new names will have a shocking effect on the Croatian public, because Croatians will interpret this as if the indictment included the the wider top of the Croatian leadership, Mesic said addinf that people would start to think if this meant the individualisation of guilt or if the guilt was spreading on others.

But the entire situation will not affect the trial of Croatian generals already in The Hague or the political situation in the country, Mesic said.
