This is the second conference of presidents of Bar Associations within the International Bar Association, which gathers 30,000 lawyers from 195 Bar Associations.
The president of the Croatian Bar Association (HOK), Leo Andreis, told the press before the conference that an agreement had been reached with the European Union to enable foreign lawyers to represent foreign companies in Croatia, but not foreign citizens as yet.
HOK, which is hosting the conference, said its participation in international bar associations was particularly important in the process of Croatia's accession to the EU and the adjustment of national legislation to European standards.
Attending the conference are 120 Bar Association presidents and other senior officials, including a seven-member delegation from Iraq.
