"Your victory is convincing and it is not, as you yourself have stated, a victory of one France over another France, but a victory of democracy in France," Mesic said in the letter.
Croatia attaches great importance to good and developed relations with France, Mesic said, adding that he would continue to pursue such a policy until the end of his term. He said he was confident that he would have a partner in Sarkozy who would recognise the value and importance of Croatian-French relations not only for the two countries, but for Southeast Europe and the European Union, which he was confident Croatia would join soon.
Mesic also said he hoped Sarkozy would soon pay an official visit to Croatia.
