During talks with Bjelovar town authorities and experts, representatives of the two companies said that the geothermal water spring at Velika Ciglena was an ideal location for such a plant because the temperature of the water there is 175 degrees Celsius and that it has a capacity of 83 litres per second.
They said that it was a renewable source of energy that could be used about 25 years with almost no loss.
Both interested investors showed examples of several of their geothermal power plants. They said they could not give the exact value of this project until all of its details were known.
The energy produced this way would be 30-50 per cent cheaper and since it would be renewable energy that does not pollute the environment, Bjelovar would become more attractive to investors.
Mayor Djurdja Adlesic said that she was also expecting proposals from interested investors from Iceland, which has a large number of such power plants. She said that a final decision on the investor was expected by the end of the year.
