At the first presentation of the party's agricultural platform, Skare Ozbolt said that market liberalisation, as a result of the treaty with the EU, had resulted in an increase of imports, making Croatia the biggest food importer in Europe.
The Croatian government is headed by an import lobby and its policy is fatal for domestic production, particularly small and family farms, the DC leader said.
She added that her party based its platform on production and export and a clear strategy of creating a unique agricultural product with which Croatia can join the EU. The party advocates the expansion of farms, granting concessions for the use of state-owned land for 99 years at a price of one kuna, establishing a bank for farmers, and introducing an irrigation system, Skare Ozbolt said.
