ZAGREB, March 20 (Hina) - The head of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH), Ana Knezevic, has been elected vice-president of the Pan-European Regional Council (PERC) of the International Trade Union
Confederation at a PERC founding assembly in Rome, the SSSH said in a statement on Tuesday.
ZAGREB, March 20 (Hina) - The head of the Federation of
Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH), Ana Knezevic, has been elected
vice-president of the Pan-European Regional Council (PERC) of the International
Trade Union Confederation at a PERC founding assembly in Rome, the SSSH said
in a statement on Tuesday. The assembly, held fifty years after the
signing of the Rome Treaty that started the process of European integration,
brought together representatives of 87 national trade union organisations.
"The election of Ana Knezevic as one of the vice-presidents of the
PERC, which represents 85 million trade union members from throughout Europe,
gives credit to the largest Croatian trade union organisation for its
activities and its role in the region," the statement said.
Mikhail Shmakov of Russia was elected president of the PERC.
