OSIJEK, March 29 (Hina) - Gordana Getos Magdic, a suspect in the Sellotape war crimes case, had to undergo an urgent operation in the Osijek Hospital on Thursday, after she became ill and complained about strong pains in the abdomen this morning, Getos's attorney Ljubica Vrsaljko Matijevic said.

Recalling that her client had started a hunger strike on March 21 over dissatisfaction with the work of the court and her prison conditions, the attorney said she had been told that Getos Magdic would not attend a court hearing scheduled for this morning because she was not feeling well.

The head of the Osijek Hospital, Zeljko Vranjes, said that the hospital could not reveal any information about Getos Magdic's condition because of her right to privacy as a patient.

An additional hearing of six witnesses for the prosecution in the investigation in the Sellotape case was held at the Osijek County Court today. About 20 days ago, investigating judge Mario Kovac completed the investigative proceedings in the case, but the County Prosecutor's Office sought amending the investigation.

Judge Kovac has scheduled three more hearings to interview 15 witnesses, 13 for the prosecution and two for the defence team of Branimir Glavas.

The hearings are scheduled for April 2 and 3.

Defence teams for Branimir Glavas, Gordana Getos Magdic, and Ivica Krnjak, who are suspected of war crimes in Osijek in 1991, today submitted a motion to Judge Kovac requesting the hearing of another witness relevant to the case.

The person in question has information on investigative proceedings at the Osijek County Police Department during which Gordana Getos Magdic was interrogated, the defence teams said.

They added that the witness, in collusion with the police, had persuaded Getos Magdic to give a statement that gravely incriminates her and other suspects in the case. She later denied the statement.
