Talks focused on social affairs reform and integration of development processes in Croatia's European Union accession negotiations.
Committee chairman Marko Turic briefed Spidla about issues in the pension system and health care reform.
Spidla said legislation regulating social affairs was well-adjusted to EU standards but that additional efforts were necessary to settle health and pension system issues.
He also met members of the parliamentary national committee monitoring the accession negotiations.
Both sides said negotiations were proceeding well, with Spidla underlining that parliaments were the most important institutions in the negotiating process given that the majority of the work referred to legislative adjustment.
Spidla said Croatia's progress would depend on its ability to meet all accession criteria as well as implement them. Some of the priorities are building administrative capacities and amending and adjusting legislation regulating labour and social rights, social affairs and health care, where certain progress has been achieved but a lot more work lies ahead.
