Expressed in foreign currency, exports were EUR 585 million or USD 760 million and imports EUR 1.19 billion or USD 1.54 billion.
Exports, when expressed in kuna, declined 3.3 per cent compared to January 2006, while imports rose 4.6 per cent.
Viewed in euro, exports dropped 3.2 per cent and imports grew 4.8 per cent, while in dollar terms exports went up 3.7 per cent and imports 12.4 per cent.
The trade deficit was HRK 4.44 billion, or EUR 603 million, or USD 784 million. Compared to January 2006, it increased nearly 14 per cent in kuna and euro terms and as much as 22.3 per cent in dollar terms.
The import/export ratio in January 2007 was 49.2 per cent, a slight increase over 2006's 48.3 per cent, or four percentage points less than in January 2006 when it reached 53.3 per cent.
