Reiterating that Croatia has opened all negotiating chapters in the membership talks with the EU and provisionally closed two thirds of them, Kosor said she believed that Croatia would meet benchmarks from the negotiating area on Judiciary and Fundamental Rights with best marks.
She said that the ongoing anti-corruption campaign was also the campaign for the rights of every man and the government would persistently and adamantly continue with that action.
European Commission Vice-President and Justice Commissioner Viviane Reding said Croatia had made big progress in the judiciary and human rights' protection.
However, the EU requires the fulfilment of a series of measures for the closing of that chapter, paying attention not only to the number of adopted laws but also to their enforcement in the practice, she said.
The fight against organised crime, war crimes investigations, matters pertaining to refugees and minorities are some of important issues which need high-quality and systematic solutions, as this is in Croatia's interest, Reding said calling for the strengthening of institutions in charge of protecting democracy and fundamental human rights.
She said that neither the EU nor EU members would accept partial solutions.
Reding commended the work of USKOK, the Croatian national agency for investigating corruption and organised crime, and added that both preventive and repressive measures should be taken to suppress corruption.
Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Tibor Navracsics said Hungary expected and would like to see the fast entry of Croatia which he described as Hungary's neighbour and partner, into the European bloc.
Hungary would offer all assistance to this effect, however, the final result depends on Croatia, he said.
Croatian Justice Minister Drazen Bosnjakovic said this international conference would be an occasion for the exchange of opinions.
He said that Croatia was making more and more success in adopting EU standards.
The Zagreb conference was organised by the Croatian justice ministry in cooperation with Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX) Office, managed by the Directorate-General Enlargement of the European Commission.
