"Nothing has changed, signatures for the referendum have been collected and it is up to the organiser -- trade union federations -- to decide whether they would like to have the referendum or not," the head of the strongest oppostion party told reporters on Saturday.
If trade unions want the referendum, the fact that the government has withdrawn the draft amendments from the procedure does not change anything, Milanovic said in the SDP headquarters in Zagreb.
Milanovic said that nobody could guarantee that the government would not again send the draft amendments to parliament.
He accused the government of being "violent and insensible" in its threats to modify the Labour Act (ZOR) which was passed seven or eight years ago. He described that legislation as the foundations of social dialogue.
