The police were today engaged at the site in order to insure the undisturbed demolition of the mosque after utility workers earlier this month were prevented by local Muslims from tearing down the religious facility.
In July, the Livno town zoning authorities ordered the removal of the mosque as no development or building permit had been issued for its construction.
The town council also turned down a proposal that this religious facility be built in Sturba with the explanation that no mosque had ever been on that site and that its erection would require changes in the zoning plans.
The beginning of the unlawful construction of the mosque triggered off arguments between local Croat and Muslim residents.
