The general government debt increased by HRK 2.3 billion from the end of 2009, and its year-on-year increase was HRK 14.3 billion.
The general government debt's share in GDP increased from 31.8 percent at the end of the first quarter of 2009 to 35.6 percent at the end of the first quarter of 2010, according to the ministry's monthly statistics.
The central government's debt accounted for HRK 112.6 billion, with extra-budgetary beneficiaries' debt totalling HRK 5.5 billion. Units of local authorities owed HRK 2 billion.
Adding to the general government's debt also HRK 40.8 billion in state guarantees and the HRK 13.2 billion debt of the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the total debt increased to HRK 174.2 billion at the end of Q1 2010, making up 51.6 percent of GDP. At the end of Q! 2009, the share was 45.6 percent.
