Croatia Summit continues with discussion on economic crisis

DUBROVNIK, July 10 (Hina) - The two-day Croatia Summit continued in the Adriatic resort of Dubrovnik on Saturday with many plenary discussions on the economic crisis, global security and the future of Southeast Europe.

The discussion on the global economic crisis highlighted the need for consensus in efforts to solve problems the world was faced with during the toughest economic crisis since the the Great Depression 80 years ago.

The moderator of that discussion was Croatian Economy Minister Djuro Popijac and other speakers were Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, the Regional Cooperation Council's chairman, Hido Biscevic and other officials from the European Union and the region.

On margins of this fifth annual meeting, the event's host, Croatian Prime Minister is holding bilateral meetings with her counterparts from Slovenia, Bulgaria, Albania and Kosovo and the European Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele.

The summit, which was opened by Kosor on Friday, has drawn several prime ministers -- Francois Fillon of France, Donald Tusk of Poland, Borut Pahor of Slovenia, Boyko Borisov of Bulgaria, Sali Berisha of Albania, and Hashim Thaci of Kosovo.

European Union officials, including Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele, and representatives of OSCE and NATO, are also present.

Croatian President Ivo Josipovic said on Thursday that the summit "means further promotion of Croatia in the region and in Europe."
