Autor: mses
BUZET, July 6 (Hina) - The Croatian and Slovenian Presidents, Ivo Josipovic and Danilo Tuerk, on Tuesday held their first meeting after Slovenians recently confirmed the bilateral border arbitration agreement at a referendum.

The Josipovic-Tuerk meeting was held in Buzet, Istria, within a meeting of businessmen organised by the Croatian-Slovenian friendship society.

Josipovic said that this meeting in Istria testified the latest enhancement of the bilateral relations.

According to him, the referendum "gave a significant impulse to the progress of those relations".

Speaking of the importance of the bilateral economic cooperation, the Josipovic said the Croatian-Slovenian partnership can have a positive impact both on Croatia and Slovenia as well as on the European Union.

Josipovic said the border arbitration agreement between Croatia and Slovenia is an excellent example for solving delicate issues in relations between two neighbouring and friendly countries.

"I am confident that this example will be taken into account by many others when they will be solving their bilateral problems," the Croatian head of state said.

He also expressed conviction that Croatia and Slovenia would ardently lobby for the the admission of the rest of the region to the EU, which he said would be important for the security and stability of the region.

Applauding the friendship society's initiative for the meeting, Slovenian President Tuerk said Istria, the venue of their meeting, was a symbol of multiculturality and tolerance.

Tuerk said that following the positive income of the Slovenian arbitration, the bilateral cooperation would further improve.

"Croatia is Slovenia's most important partner, and I expect improving cooperation in tourism and energy very soon. The referendum has created a new climate which will result in new projects," Tuerk said adding that the cooperation between his country and Croatia would be additionally strengthened in the EU.
