ZAGREB, March 28 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader has
ordered his Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) secretariat to initiate the
procedure for the sale of the party's BMW car in a bid to prevent attempts to
belittle the government's endeavours to fend off the economic crisis through
the revision of the state budget and savings and economies as well as in a bid
to stop tendentious, ill-intentioned and false comments on the HDZ, the
government's public relations office said in a statement on Saturday. The Prime Minister will in the future use state cars which meet security
standards for protected office-holders, according to the statement.
The media have lately reported that the HDZ bought an HRK 4.2 million
BMW for the needs of the premier Sanader at the end of 2008.
Reports have elicited strong disapproval from the Opposition.
