Addressing the press. the two presidents said that their countries' joint goal was to enter the European Union.
Mesic said that they had also talked about the return of Croatian Serb refugees.
"Croatia can be presented in the world as a mature democracy when its citizens return to Croatia feeling safe and secure, regulate their status and come back to their homes, towns and villages," Mesic said referring to Croatian Serb refugees living in Serbia.
The two officials discussed the border issue and agreed that the provisional solution should remain in place and that the two countries would try solve the issue in the spirit of good neighbourliness and cooperation.
Tadic said that he had accepted Mesic's invitation to visit Croatia in early September.
The Novi Sad summit, which will last by 21 June, will focus on economic challenges and energy issues in the light of integration with the European Union.
