ZAGREB, July 13 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament Deputy Speaker and
the head of the parliamentary committee on European integration processes,
Neven Mimica, and the French Ambassador to Zagreb, Jerome Pasquier, on Monday
held talks on the efforts of France to help Croatia on its road towards the
European Union membership, the parliament (Sabor) reported in a statement. Pasquier said that it was crucial for Croatia, which he said had already
done a great part of the job, to continue implementing the ongoing reforms.
Mimica thanked France on its great endeavours to help solve a
Croatian-Slovenian border dispute during the French presidency of the EU in the
second half of 2008.
The French ambassador said that the French policy would remain
proactive in that sense.
Mimica and Pasquier agreed that the blockade of Croatia's EU accession
negotiations, caused by the border dispute, was a serious problem which
required additional efforts by all parties concerned.
