The Croatian hospital was chosen among 33,000 business entities from 34 countries that participated in this year's competition and was Europe's only health institution to make it into the finals.
The jury consisted of respectable business, academic and political figures including former Belgian prime minister Yves Leterme, former European trade commissioner Karel De Gucht and former Danish prime minister Wim Kok.
Founded in 2011, St. Catherine Hospital specialises in orthopaedic surgery, internal medicine, neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and offers personalised medical care. It is a member of the Leading Hospitals of the World, and was declared the best private hospital in Croatia by the International Certification Association (ICERTIAS) in June 2015.
