The fair's director, Stipe Samija, said that interest in this year's show was much greater than permitted by the Arena's capacity, adding that the fair had received recognition from the UFI global association of the exhibition industry and had been listed among the fastest growing fairs in Central and Eastern Europe.
Mayor Ivo Baldasar said it was the biggest fair in Split yet, underlining its importance for the city and its industry, notably tourism.
The fair runs until Saturday and will also include lectures, presentations and various contests.
