Tenth edition of Vukovar Film Festival set for Aug 22 - 27

ZAGREB, Aug 16 (Hina) - The tenth edition of the Vukovar Film Festival (VFF) - Festival of Danubian Countries taking place August 22nd to 27th will premiere some of the best recent European and world film productions with the highlight being the premiere of Pedro Almodovar's latest production - Julieta.

The festival's director Igor Rakonic told a press conference in Zagreb on Tuesday that this year's VFF will feature the "greatest number of productions ever."

"Over the past ten years, the festival has progressed from modest beginning to a festival that screens some of the best Danubian productions but also a place where some of the best films from around the globe are premiered," Rakonic said.

Some of these films have come from the best world film festivals such as Berlin, Cannes and Karlovy Vary. 

The festival's greatest attraction this year will be the premiere of  Pedro Almodovar's Julieta  - a film about a chance encounter that causes a woman (Emma Suarez) to reflect on the tragic circumstances surrounding the disappearance of her daughter.

VFF will also present films such as Ken Loach's - I, Daniel Blake and Woody Allen's latest film - Cafe Society, coming to Vukovar directly from the Cannes Film Festival.

The festival will also present five educational workshops including one for the youngest audience about stop animation.

The Festival will be held in ten different venues in four towns - Osijek, Valpovo, Beli Manastir and Vucedol.
