Kari Karjalainen, the mayor of the Finnish city of Joensuu, which launched the project, has invited the mayor of Split, Ivo Baldasar, to join by publicly promoting the idea of feeling European in all areas of life and work.
The idea is for all cities, towns and regions participating in this initiative to display the EU flag on their chief administrative buildings for a day, take a picture of it and share it on social media using the hashtag #WeAreEurope.
The initiative, launched after the United Kingdom has voted in a referendum to leave the EU, has been joined by as many as 200 cities and municipalities from 21 European countries, the City of Split Press Service said.
