VARAZDIN, Aug 20
(Hina) - Varazdin lawmakers on Thursday discussed
measures to halt a rise in bicycle thefts, given that some 250 bikes

VARAZDIN, Aug 20
(Hina) - Varazdin lawmakers on Thursday discussed
measures to halt a rise in bicycle thefts, given that some 250 bikes
were stolen in that northern Croatian city in the last seven months,
and they also called on owners to raise the level of protection of
their pedal-driven vehicles parked in public places.
Informing the city council of the state of affairs, local police head Kreso Bosak said that bicycle thefts had increased by 20% in the recent months and that the risk of theft existed everywhere, both in the centre of the city and in its surroundings.
Therefore, the city authorities would step up patrolling by municipal inspectors as well by police officers around parking grounds and everywhere else in the city.
The authorities also urged owners to register their bikes through the online application "Varazdinski bicikli" as registration may help in the search for stolen bikes.
