More than 150 exhibits are on display.
During the opening ceremony Mostar Mayor Ljubo Beslic in particular thanked Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic, claiming that the exhibition would not have been possible without his support.
The ceremony was attended by the late artist's granddaughter Ana Martina Bakic.
The exhibition was originally presented in Zagreb's Museum of Contemporary Art in 2013 and has since travelled to Banja Luka and Sarajevo. After Mostar, the exhibition will be presented in Belgrade and then on to Dubrovnik to mark the one hundredth anniversary of Bakic's birth.
