The civil society associations believe that the government must scrap the planned project and cease investing into outdated technologies based on fossil fuels and that it should turn to a low-carbon economy.
The activists, clad in white garment smeared by oil, set up an improvised anti-flood dam to warn about oil spills and extreme climate change caused by fossil fuel usage.
They also criticised the government for offering the entire Adriatic to be open to concession with minimum compensation.
They said that the entire procedure of an international tender for the concession to explore Croatia’s Adriatic coast for oil and gas was being conducted in a totally irresponsible manner.
Therefore, the parliament is urged to trigger off a public debate on this topic.
