The 37th edition of this fair, which will end on Sunday, 16 November, has gathered 250 publishers from Croatia and abroad.
Opening the event, the minister said that despite devastating statistics in the Croatian publishing sector in the last four years, including the contraction of the publishing activity and job losses, the number of visitors at Interliber had remained at same levels and revenues from the sale at the fair had risen modestly.
"This means that we have people who want to buy books," the minister added.
She also announced the elaboration of a national strategy aimed at reading promotion in January 2015, in line with the EU READ campaign.
Interliber has been organised under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, and admission is free.
