ZAGREB, June 16
(Hina) - After upholding the first verdict against
former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader for war profiteering in the Hypo
Bank case and for bribe-taking in the INA-MOL case and reducing his
jail term from 10 to eight and a half years, the Croatian Supreme
Court on Monday posted on its web site a statement explaining its
ruling, saying that in a time of war he "used his official powers for
unlawful purposes as correctly established by the trial court" and
that his sentence was appropriate to the crimes committed.
