Out of more than 100 candidates from around the world, Vasiljević, along with 15 other women, received the award in the "Arts and Culture" category. This marks the third time that activists from the Croatian community in Serbia have been included among Influential Croatian Women.
Vasiljević said this was a significant step forward for Croats in Serbia and a continuation of the trend of their increasing visibility in Croatia.
Speaking about the position of women in the Croatian community in Serbia, Vasiljević said the number of women in the most responsible positions demonstrated their successful fight for their rightful place.
She noted that women lead all three professional institutions of Croats in Serbia: the Croatian National Council, the Hrvatska riječ publisher, and the Institute for the Culture of Vojvodina Croats (ZKVH).
In the past two years, the title of Influential Croatian Woman from Serbia has been awarded to ZKVH director Katarina Čeliković and tamburica professor and conductor Mira Temunović.
The Croatian Women’s Network is a global platform established in 2015. It connects and supports distinguished women of Croatian heritage from around the world. The Influential Croatian Women awards will be presented in Zagreb on 8 March.
