In June 2024, the Office already allocated €906,000 to this aim, which means that a total of €1,826,000 was set aside by the Office in 2024 for such projects and for aid schemes.
This funding comes from the state budget's allocation for programmes of Croats living outside Croatia.
These grants were awarded based on a public call and 212 applications for projects plus some 70 applications for financial aid to individuals were approved in December.
Concerning the disbursement in December, the office provided one-time financial assistance to about 70 socially vulnerable Croats in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and the Netherlands. The Office granted the highest one-time support under this scheme, €2,000, to a Croatian woman in the Netherlands.
The maximum amount of €20,000 was awarded to the project of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Croatian Catholic Mission in Nuremberg and the 50th anniversary of the mission's folklore group.
An amount of €18,500 was awarded by the Office to the Honorary Bleiburg Group from Zagreb for a book on the activities of the Yugoslav intelligence services (UDBA) against that group from 1964 to 1990.
The Croatian National Council of Montenegro from Tivat and the Croatian National Council in the Republic of Serbia from Subotica each received €15,000 for their respective projects "Croatian People's Day in Montenegro 2025" and "CroVisible".
The Institute for Migration Studies from Zagreb received €13,500 for the project "The Croatian Diaspora in the USA".
Two projects in Vojvodina with one of them concerning the restoration of the Catholic cathedral in Sremska Mitrovica and the other one concerning the equipping of the office and work of the Ban Josip Jelačić Memorial Foundation, were supported by the Office with €12,500 each.
The Medical School in Rijeka received €10,000 for a project connecting the school with Croatian expat associations in Argentina and Brazil, while the Med&X Association from Split received €10,000 for the project called "Croatian Diaspora in the Focus of Global Academic Cooperation" and "Med&X Accelerator".
The Office awarded €9,500 for the project of kindergarten in the village of Tihaljina, southern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It disbursed €9,000 for a project of the installation of stands and fencing around the football field in Bučići, in Novi Travnik, central BiH.
Around 200 other projects and programmes received smaller grants ranging from 8,500 to 1,000 euros.
