The house price index in the EU went up in Q4 2014 by 2.6% from the same period of the year before. In Q3, the house price index went up 2.3%.
Among the member states for which data are available, the highest annual increases in house prices in the fourth quarter of 2014 were recorded in Ireland (+16.3%), Malta (+11.0%) and Sweden (+10.4%).
In Croatia, house prices in Q4 2014 grew 1.2% from the same period of the previous year. In Q3, they grew 2.6%.
The largest annual decline in house prices was reported in Slovenia (-4.4.%) and Cyprus (-3.3%).
Quarterly comparisons at the EU level show price stagnation in Q4. In Q3, house prices went up 1.1%.
The highest quarterly growth of house prices was recorded in Malta (+4.6%), followed by Ireland (+3.8%) and Slovakia (2.1%).
In Croatia, house prices in Q4 2014 dropped 1.2% from Q3, when they jumped 4.7%.
The largest quarterly fall in house prices was reported in Latvia (-10.2%).
In the euro area, house prices in Q4 2014 grew more strongly on the year than they did in the previous quarter, by 1.1%. In Q3, they went up 0.4% on the year. Compared to Q3, house prices in Q4 dropped 0.1%, following a 0.6% increase in the July-September period.
