Inauguration about to begin

ZAGREB, Feb 15 (Hina) - Everything is set for the official inauguration of Croatia's first female President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic in Zagreb's St. Mark's Square with high foreign and local officials arriving as are many citizens.

A little after midday on Sunday Grabar-Kitarovic will take oath on the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia before the president of the Constitutional Court Jasna Omejec and other constitutional court judges.

A table has been set up on the stage in front of St. Mark's Square where Croatia's President will sign the official oath just like the first Croatian President Franjo Tudjman did once. The stage is decorated with Croatian and European Union flags.

Grabar-Kitarovic will be accompanied to the stage by her husband Jakov and once she has stated and signed the official oath, she will be presented with the presidential sash and will honour the Croatian flag. This will then be followed by the President's inaugural speech and a musical programme. The official ceremony will then be concluded by congratulations from foreign and domestic officials.

The ceremony will be attended by former Croatian presidents and prime ministers, a Croatian government delegation headed by Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic, a delegation for the Croatian Sabor headed by Parliament Speaker Josip Leko and other dignitaries from political, cultural and religious life in the country.

A record number of foreign delegations will attend the ceremony including eight heads of state - Slovenian President Borut Pahor, Slovak President Andrej Kiska, Hungarian President Janos Ader, Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, Albanian President Bujar Nishani, Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic, Kosovo President Atifeta Jahjaga, the three-member Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Ivanic, Dragan Covic and Bakir Izetbegovic.

Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will also attend the inauguration. Bulgaria is to be represented by Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Bulgaria Tsetska Tsacheva Dangovska. The president's of the Czech and Polish Senates Milan Stech and Bogdan Borusewicz respectively will be there too.

The Minister-President of the German state of Hesse Volker Bouffier will represent Germany and Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica will attend on behalf of the European Commission.

State-Secretary for Energy Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall is to represent the United States of America and China will be represented by Minister of Industry and Information Technology Miao Wei.

Croatian-Canadian politician and MP Lynne Yelich will also attend as will the President of the Democratic Alliance of Croats in Vojvodina (Serbia) Petar Kuntic.

Several heads of international organisations in Croatia will attend the event on St. Mark's Square.

After the official programme President Grabar-Kitarovic will organise a special dinner for around 40 dignitaries and the President is expected to conducted several bilateral meetings.

The celebrations are being covered by about 300 local and foreign reporters and secured by heavy police forces. Special traffic regulations are in force all day around the inner city centre.
