Poroshenko will be in Zagreb on the day that a ceasefire is to take effect in east Ukraine after an agreement was reached on Thursday in Minsk between Poroshenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and representatives of pro-Russian rebels.
Poroshenko will be the ninth head of state to attend the inauguration in St. Mark's Square on Sunday, along with Albanian President Bujar Nishani, Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic, Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, Hungarian President Janos Ader, Slovakian President Andrej Kiske, Slovenian President Borut Pahor, Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga and all three members of the collective Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
A total of 88 foreign delegations will attend the inauguration, including Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, US Deputy Secretary of Energy Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall and China's Minister of Industry and Information Technology Miao Wei.
