Zagreb Archbishop says Grabar Kitarovic's election new start for Croatia

ZAGREB, Feb 13 (Hina) - The archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, has said in his congratulatory message to Croatia's President-elect Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic on the occasion of her forthcoming inauguration that her election "represents a new beginning for Croatia's nation".

The dignitary says that the newly-elected president is taking over her duties in times of significant changes and challenges for the Croatian people and that Croatians should find an answer to the question of how "to continue living as a nation", the public relations office of the Zagreb Archdiocese said in a press release on Friday.

Bozanic went on to say that "Croatia needs a president who will give a new impetus to promoting national unity, true patriotism, political credibility and the efficiency of the Croatian judiciary".

The Zagreb Archbishop said he was sorry not to be able to attend Sunday's inauguration due to his trip to the Vatican for a consistory of cardinals. Auxiliary Bishop Ivan Sasko will represent the Zagreb Archdiocese at the Zagreb celebration.
