Even though Ivica and Marica have travelled all the way from Canada, they too are patiently waiting in the column at the end of the street heading toward St. Mark's Square. "We've come from Vancouver, Canada to attend the inauguration. We know the president from before," they said.
The long journey did not dishearten them and a week ago the couple of Croatian origins decided to attend the ceremonies in Zagreb and were pleased that Sunday had turned out to be a warm, sunny day.
"We wish the President all the best," they said.
"Lots of luck, God's wisdom, openness to all is what I wish for President Grabar-Kitarovic," Sister Zvonimira said, who also knows Grabar-Kitarovic from before. "Today is a great day for us all," she said.
This is the second time Sister Zvonimira has attended a presidential inauguration. She attended President Franjo Tudjman's inauguration in 1997.
