PM says situation in Bosnia bad, 2014 could be even worse

SARAJEVO, Dec 31 (Hina) - Bosnian Council of Ministers President Vjekoslav Bevanda said on Tuesday that the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the end of 2013 was difficult and pessimistically warned that next year could be even worse.

In an interview with Oslobodjenje daily, Bevanda said one need not be a big expert to conclude that Bosnia and Herzegovina was beset by a crisis and a difficult situation.

"Next year could be even worse because it is election year and it's quite normal that everyone will try to deal with their campaigns. We know, not just here, that election campaigns can also be dirty and ugly. That's why I'm afraid that 2014 will be worse," he was quoted as saying.

Bevanda called on all those responsible to take more decisive action and, in keeping with their responsibilities, contribute to changing those trends. He said this was a joint responsibility and that everyone should act in accordance with their powers.

He warned that the Council of Ministers had limited possibility to affect a change in the state of the nation because its powers were limited. The country's organisation defines its two entities as the real centres of political and financial power.
