Croatian president receives Bosnian Croats from Tuzla

ZAGREB, Dec 30 (Hina) - President Ivo Josipovic on Monday received representatives of Croats from Tuzla Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina, who thanked him for the continued support and said that inter-ethnic relations had improved since his visit, Josipovic's office said in a statement.

The delegation thanked the Croatian president for his support for their efforts to ensure their survival and equality in the Tuzla area in northeastern Bosnia.

More work needs to be done regarding rights related to the constitutionality of the Bosnian Croat people, notably in education in the Croatian language, it was said.

The lack of proportionate representation of Bosnian Croats in the public sector was highlighted as a problem.

Josipovic said relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina were very important to Croatia and that Croatia would pursue its policy of good neighbourly relations and help projects important to the Bosnian Croat people.

Cooperation between the two states and harmonious inter-ethnic relations in Bosnia are the best guarantee for the equality of the peoples and citizens of Bosnia as well as for the success of Bosnia's European path, the statement said.
