The decision was made at an extraordinary meeting in Pula after Tourism Minister Veljko Ostojic (IDS) resigned earlier today.
The ministry said in a statement that Ostojic resigned under pressure caused by unfounded accusations and an extensive campaign against him that prevented him from doing his job in the professional manner set by him and his team at the ministry.
Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic accepted the resignation after talking with Ostojic and asked the IDS to nominate a new tourism minister.
Ostojic resigned after the media reported that he had been acquainted with the details of a land sale in Bale, land whose value grew several times after urbanisation, and that his sister-in-law, allegedly in his presence, paid for the land in cash more than was reported to the Tax Administration, thereby defrauding the state budget.
