In case Ostojic's Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) leaves the coalition, there will be no crisis of the parliamentary majority because the coalition has the parliamentary majority "and the government will remain stable," Josipovic told the press in Plitvice Lakes National Park.
He said one should also take into account of the political turmoil ahead of local elections.
"It's the prime minister's move to choose a new minister, either from the IDS if the party stays in the government, or from the SDP or a partner party."
Ostojic resigned earlier today over a disputed land transaction.
Asked to comment on the dissonant tones in the governments, the president said "there are problems about which people have different opinions" and that this was not necessarily bad. He added, however, that adopted decisions must be resolutely enforced, regardless of previous opinions.
Asked about media allegations of a disagreement between him and Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic as to where an agreement on economic cooperation with Azerbaijan should be signed, Josipovic said, "The government will sign its agreement where it wants, and if it wants the president to be present, it will be signed in the president's office."
He added that the most important thing was to sign a good agreement, on which he congratulated the government.
