The coalition said in a press release that "dual citizenship represents a means of protecting the acquired human rights of refugees and other damaged citizens" in line with the European Convention on Nationality and other international law standards.
The new residence law which Croatia adopted in December represents "the legalisation of the policy of erasing Serbs from residence records," the press release said, adding that county police departments had illegally erased many Serbs from those records, although the former residence law stipulated that erasing was possible only at one's request.
