Merrill Lynch analyst Judith Ganes noted that the Greek quote went off the A-index today, making way for the Orleans/Texas quote to move into the group of five world quotes. "That makes the U.S. slightly more competitive and may have provided a bit of underpinning today," she said. But trade remained thin at an estimated 9,000 lots. March settled up 0.19 cent at 76.30 cents per pound, traded 76.50 to 75.75 cents. The back months closed 0.18 to 0.31 cent firmer. The USDA will release its December data Thursday. Industry sources expect the USDA to raise its estimate for the U.S. crop slightly, to between 18.6 million bales and 18.788 million 480-lb bales.
