In merinos, the 19 micron category was unchanged. The 20/21m indicators were slightly cheaper, 22/25m were slightly dearer and 23/24/26m up to 0.5 percent dearer, it said. Merino skirtings were generally unchanged. In crossbreds, 27m was slightly dearer, while 28/29/30/31m were unchanged. Cardings were generally unchanged. There was good general competition with most sectors of the trade active including China and local mills, WI said. Of the 19,975 bales offered, 12.8 percent were passed in. Sales continue next week in Newcastle, Melbourne and Fremantle with about 106,000 bales on offer. _________________________________________________________________ Bradford - cijene vune - 19. rujna 1996. cijene u penijima/kg _________________________________________________________________ MERINO CROSSBRED 70s SUPER 528 58s SUPER 390 66s SUPER 463 58s BLENDED 361 64s SUPER 422 56s SUPER 367 64s BLENDED 418 54s CARDED 355 60s SUPER 393 50s CARDED 335 60s BLENDED 369 58s ENGLISH 281 56s ENGLISH 271 50s ENGLISH 267 Bradford wool market sees signs of revival BRADFORD, Sept 19 (Reuter) - Brokers reported a modest revival in activity at the Bradford wool market on Thursday. The re-entry of China into the market offset the dampening effect on prices of the large Australian offering of greasy wool overnight and helped to draw buyers into the UK market, trade sources said. Buying interest was also boosted by the latest retail sales figures, they said. Sales of household goods were up seven percent in the June-August quarter compared to the same period in 1995. Tops prices were generally firm at what one source described as "cut-throat" levels. The increase in consumer spending and a steady improvement in the housing market in recent months has so far benefitted importers more than domestic wool processors. But some market sources said this is set to change as stocks of tops, yarns and fabrics are running at relatively low levels. Although the market is expected to be tested by another large Australian sale next week, most local sources believe the depressive effect may have bottomed out. 201058 MET sep 96
