Customers in Europe appear to be generally disinclined to pay merchants' current asking rates for cotton for shipment during the immediate post-summer holiday period. The firmness of these prices is attributed to a decline in traders' uncommitted stocks and lack of fresh sources of supply from which they might be replenished ahead of the movement of new crops. 121015 MET jun 97
