Growths mentioned included Spanish and Greek 1997/98 crop supplies. But agreement on price levels was difficult. Turkey has remained relatively active as domestic prices in this market have risen to a level at which imported descriptions seem attractive. Central Asian styles found some demand although US cottons still seem well favoured, owing to attractive credit terms. 051059 MET jun 97
