A steadier tone on futures on Friday imparted some stability to the asking rates for most upland styles. Central Asian and West African were the subject of most inquiry, mainly for shipment during the second and third quarters of the year. But genuine buying interest was limited. Mill demand for shipments further forward was very restricted and traders showed no inclination to offer new crop cotton more agressively than hitherto. 151042 MET apr 97
