ZAGREB, April 11 (Hina) - Croatia earned nearly 6.6 billion euros in revenues from foreign tourists who visited the country last year, which was a 6% increase over 2010, according to provisional figures from Croatia's balance of payments current account released by the central bank on Wednesday.

When viewed by quarter, revenue growth was registered in the second and third quarters compared with the corresponding periods of 2010, while revenues in the first and fourth quarters were lower.

Revenues in the second quarter of 2011 went up by 9.1% year on year to EUR 1.61 billion, and the third quarter saw a 7.8% rise in revenues, reaching EUR 4.17 billion. On the other hand, revenues in the first quarter of 2011 declined by 15.4% year on year to EUR 274.5 million and those in the fourth quarter by 3.2% to EUR 543.3 million.

Tourism Minister Veljko Ostojic said recently that this year's plan was to earn EUR 7 billion in revenues from tourism.
